Far from the former 5e adaptation, this reimagining of the game takes all of Free League’s attention to quality and tailors its design toward the exploration, mystery, and corruption that make the Lord of the Rings a captivating story. As much as I liked Cubicle 7’s Adventures in Middle Earth, now is a fertile time to look outside of the sphere for The One Ring, second edition. Now comes Free League, the chosen one, to right the wrongs of the past. I really do think it's ironic that the game design clearly matches KB+M, and is just atrociously bad for a controller, when clearly controller was the one they had in mind when they made it.There has been much turmoil in the land of Middle Earth. Or about blocking being directional in a game where enemies are routinely circling behind you and the automatic camera can't keep up, so your only option is to pan the camera by hand which means you're not gonna be dodging or jumping or using any of your most important defensive and movement abilities as you do. Or about "tipping right stick sideways" to switch targets not working unless the next target is relatively close to the middle of your screen. However, none of these do anything about the target lock distance being far shorter than that of the enemy - on purpose -, which is a staple mark of all FromSoft games and Nioh 2 because apparently it's cool to have that added completely artificial difficulty from being targeted by something you can't target back. And one - the most important one -, which should automatically switch to next enemy when you defeat the current one. One for having guard reset it, which I will never ever use. One for automatically locking at whatever it is you're hitting, which I have on. There's really only a few that actually change the behavior. Originally posted by Cronofear:Have you checked the game settings? There is like 5 options to customize how you want the camera lock to behave. I can't wait to be able to play properly like I did in Dark Souls / ER and Nioh 2. If any console port ever needed a mouse, this is it! This with all the hundreds of times I've died or come close to dying because the game - BY DESIGN - abuses these horrible controls and sends enemies at you from behind and above which you're defenseless against due to the horrible camera, just really makes me wish we get that mouse update already. God! How can you mess it up this badly? And this is not to even mention the thousand times some enemy has locked on to me from all of 20 meters away while for some reason I cannot lock on to them until I get a lot closer (yes it works like that, sometimes you can lock on to something far away, often not, it seems to follow the pattern of "do I need it or not" and then choose the opposite). Need I also remind you that for some reason the camera lock is bound to the right stick, which you use with your right thumb, WHICH YOU ALSO NEED TO DODGE AND JUMP.Īaaaahhh! Oh. I tried jumping and dodging and re-locking the camera but it just kept locking on every single wrong thing imaginable, all of them a million miles away, but never the person wailing at me right next to me. Until the camera chose to lock on to some enemy a million miles away completely opening me up to the person hitting my face right next to me. I just had one of my best PvP experiences so far in this game, where I was doing absolutely great. But because nothing is black and white, let me just say that I have seen some really, *really* bad camera issues with past games as a lifelong gamer and I don't think I've ever seen anything as bad as whatever it is this game has. First a disclaimer, I'm absolutely loving this game.
